We are a group based in Hampshire,
England, interested in mills of all types - watermills,
windmills, tide mills - with
many members who own mills and welcome the opportunity
to share their enthusiasm.
Some of us are actively involved in the
restoration work on mills and their machinery, sluices,
waterwheels, turbines and watercourses. We advise
mill owners on repair and conservation and lend a hand
Others research the various aspects of
milling and mill history and survey buildings.
Very often, we are able to supply historical details and
copies of old photographs. We are frequently
consulted about planning applications involving change
in mills and mill sites. We are closely involved
with the Hampshire
Industrial Archaeology Society and the
Society for the
Preservation of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).
We are a friendly group and meet
four times a year in a variety of Hampshire mills.
A quarterly newsletter is circulated to all members and
we are now adding it to this website.
The newsletters contain an eclectic mix of news of our
activities, articles on mills and milling, reports on
visits, poems, recipes and much more ....
We would be delighted to have you
and get involved in all our activities.
