Brentford Newspaper reports that
a Roman quern has been unearthed during
an archaeological dig in Syon Park.
Briggate Mill, Norfolk, A bid
by hamlet residents to have land around
a ruined north Norfolk water mill
registered as a village green was
rejected by an Inquiry Inspector after a
three-year battle, as he decided
insufficient proof of continuous
community use of the green over the past
twenty years. Mill ownership is unclear,
its former owners having been imprisoned
for conducting an insurance scam in
which the mill was burned to the ground
in 1975.
Etruria Industrial Museum is the
last steam-powered potters' mill in
Britain. The mill is 'in steam' seven
times a year when the 1903 boiler is
fired and historic machinery can be seen
working. Situated on the canal, the
museum also offers a family-friendly

Cornish Mill and Bakehouse, - An-Velin
Ha Popti Kernewek in Cornish – is at
Trewsowthick Farm, St. Newlyn East in
Cornwall. Owners David and Sarah
Buscombe developed their very successful
enterprise with funding under the Rural
Diversification Capital Grant
Initiative. It enabled them to buy a
traditional mill, complete with
millstones, de-stoner, grain cleaner and
bagging machine. Alongside milling
wheat and oats for bread and baking
flour, they now mill locally grown Durum
wheat for pasta. Farmer, Charlie Watson
Smyth experimented with growng it and
his wife learned to make the pasta for
sale in their farm shop. Jamie Oliver
buys it for his restaurant in Rock,
named 15, where it is a great hit.
