Here are the answers to the Winter Quiz:

 

  1. Clewer Mill, alongside Windsor Racecourse on the River Thames, was bought by Michael Caine where he enjoyed landscaping the garden but sadly did not bother himself with milling.
     

  2. A Stone Nut is the cog which drives the stones when engaged with the Spur wheel.
     

  3. Born Gertrude Mary Astbury, Gertie Gitana had a resounding hit record with There's an old mill by the stream, Nellie Dean" which was specially written for her in about 1905.  Her first recording of it is on the Jumbo label by Parlophone and her repertoire included other gems as "You do look well in your old Dutch bonnet".
